In-Depth Review: SWAPP AI

What It Is

An AI assistant called Frank that works inside Revit and ArchiCAD to produce construction documentation: dimensioning, tagging, sheeting, 2D to 3D modeling, schedules, ADA checks, clash resolution, and quality control, using the firm's own standards and past projects as the rule set.

Who It's For

Mid-size and large architecture firms with enough repeat typology, and enough documented standards, that encoding them pays back. Not a tool for a small practice or one-off custom work.

Why It Matters

A two-week onboarding encodes a firm's annotation rules, drawing standards, and quality checks, and the system keeps learning from corrections, so output follows how that office draws rather than a default. It runs the same firm-tuned workflows in both Revit and ArchiCAD, which the company says no competing assistant does.

Problem Solved

Construction documentation is where hours disappear: dimensioning, tagging, sheet setup, schedule coordination, and the quality pass that catches what changed. SWAPP automates those inside the live model with a person approving the work, rather than exporting to a separate system. The company reports automating up to 80 percent of documentation tasks and cutting documentation time by up to 70 percent, both of which are its own figures.

Audience Fit

Primary Users:

  • BIM Manager
  • Architect
  • Project Manager
  • Technology Lead

Ideal Fit:

  • Firms with written standards worth encoding and repeat typology to apply them to
  • Revit or ArchiCAD shops producing full CD sets
  • Practices where documentation capacity, not design capacity, is the constraint
  • Firms that need a security answer, since the company holds ISO 27001 certification

Key Differentiator

Trains on your firm's own standards and past projects, in both Revit and ArchiCAD

Workflow Fit

Project Phases Covered:

  • Design Development
  • Construction Docs

Where It Plugs In:

Frank works on the live model inside Revit or ArchiCAD and requires human approval, so it is not autonomous. Onboarding takes about two weeks to encode firm standards before useful output starts.

User Experience

Speed: Cloud processing with no on-premises server. An earlier version generated a complete Revit model from a grid and room designations in 40 to 50 minutes, per AEC Magazine

Interface: An agentic assistant working inside the authoring application rather than a separate environment

Learning Curve: The learning is organizational rather than personal, since the work is deciding and encoding the standards the system will follow

Collaboration: Sold per firm with data segregated per client. Each firm's models train only that firm's models, per the vendor

Integrations: Revit, ArchiCAD, Autodesk Forma, and IFC. Procore and Trimble are announced for 2026 and not shipping

Dimensioning, tagging, and sheeting on the live model, with human approval required
2D to 3D modeling with finishes and parameters
Schedules, ADA compliance checks, clash resolution, and quality control passes
Runs the same firm-tuned workflows in both Revit and ArchiCAD
ISO 27001 certified, with native BIM files never sent to third-party language model providers
Credit-based pricing quoted per firm, with no published figures

Bonus Insight

No independent hands-on test of this product exists after November 2022. SWAPP names Stantec, Page, HGA, and about twenty other firms as customers and reports 35 million square feet documented and 104,300 production hours saved, but none of those firms has publicly confirmed the relationship, G2 carries no reviews, and the only independent hands-on account is an AEC Magazine piece from November 2022. That review is still the best source on limits: the system works best on buildings that are predictable and boxy, is unsuitable for complex geometry such as airport terminals, and architects must verify code compliance themselves. The company does not publish an LOD figure for its output, which is the first thing to pin down in a demo, and it does not publish supported Revit or ArchiCAD versions or which building codes the compliance checks cover beyond ADA. On the other hand, the security posture is the strongest in this category: ISO 27001 certification, per-client data segregation, and a statement that customer data never trains general models. Founded in 2019 in Tel Aviv by people who previously sold a company to Autodesk, with $18.5 million raised and roughly 40 to 50 staff.
